"Feels like Destiny" Yellow Dress

This has happened to me many times. Thinking of making a certain project and few days later as I pass by my favourite fabric store, I find the exact fabric I was planning on getting for that project just hagging outside the door in the sales rack! And, all those times, there was just enough left! I love when this happens! I get want I want for a bargain!
Guess it is just meant to be :)

Parece destino :)

This yellow dress was one of those cases.
I was inspired by the Modcloth dress above.

Este vestido foi um desses casos.
Foi inspirado pelo vestido da Modcloth acima.

I used JJ blouse Burda Style pattern and drafted a circle skirt to go with it. Was very easy to do. The only nightmare were the buttonholes. I hate making buttonholes so much! And this pattern takes so many! bahh... for the buttons in the sleeves I just had to cheat and sew the buttons on as decoration. Didn't really need buttons there, so just spared me some pain!
The skirt turned out slightly high-low (not showing in the pictures because of the belt). No idea why, everything is in place and right where it should be and the hem is actually even. I wasnt planning for it but i am very pleased! I don't like the very pronounced mermaid skirt but just a bit is actually quite flattering!
I hope you like it!

ps. for those who sew: JJ blouse pattern is a great one for altering as you like! If you want to draft your own shirt I recommend you try it as your basis!

  2. Very cute! I love that Modcloth dress too but wasn't a fan of the really short sleeves; I like how yours are a bit longer at a more flattering length.

    1. Thanks! Yes, with longer puffy sleeves there's more freedom of movement! ;)

  5. Is the only "opening" in this dress at the bust? I'm pretty tiny, so I think I can get away with something like this ... but I was curious if you had buttons on it down the skirt a bit. Or is the waist loose and that's why you have a belt, to cinch up the waist a little?
    It's lovely, by the way!!

    1. I added the zipper at the right back side seam in order not to mess with the round skirt. You can almost see it on the bottom right picture of the last group!! lol
The buttons go only to the waist and the belt is not doing much, just a complement.
      Thank you!
